Welcome to GOURMET
TRAVELER, where we specialize in small (4-12), insider culinary tours to
many regions throughout Italy, with occasional forays into France. A
trip with us is like traveling with a group of good friends. In fact,
over the years, many of the clients with whom we've traveled have
become good friends.
Over 15 years ago I fell in love
with Italy and decided to share my passion for this wonderful country
with others - thus was born GOURMET TRAVELER.
I am a trained chef by background
so our contacts in various regions are with my fellow food professionals
who are pleased to share insider knowledge about the area and
its artisan producers; insider views that are simply not available to
the average visitor. Local instructors/chefs/authors teach us the
secrets of their cuisine. We
learn from the locals.
Because Italy is about much more
than food, we strive to offer you a complete experience through our
network of Italian friends, all of whom are eager to share their love of
country and rich traditions. Through our extensive network of friends
amassed over our many years of visiting, we are able to provide you with
true insider experiences - not the usual "tourist" fare.
To maximize the experience we have
professional guides for museum & city tours. We also visit culturally
significant sites: Pompeii, Vatican, Uffizi, Ostia Antica, Monreale. In addition we include local events such as festivals, musical
performances, or private parties. Whenever possible we hold cooking
classes in homes where we catch a glimpse of authentic Italian life.
We stay in immaculately restored
villas/inns with completely modern facilities
and en suite baths. Each facility is
"typical" of its area - a palace in Venice, a country setting in
Tuscany.
Our trips are a combination of
food, fun, wine, people, entertainment, shopping, exploring, dining &
